Jan 05, 2006 · Hi, just hit 300k on Jan. 9, 2017 on my 2004 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4WD I bought new in March of 2004. I've changed the oil and filter every 5000-5500 miles and try to keep other things in order. Had an issue with 4WD electronic actuator at around 200k, but otherwise trouble-free. Runs great and I plan to keep driving it. 400k? Hope so! Aug 05, 2012 · Well, as many of us have already stated, any car sold today--if maintained diligently and if repaired promptly when necessary--has the potential to last for 300k miles, or more. However, a lot has to do with your tolerance for increasing repair costs as these cars age--particularly Mercedes vehicles. Nov 08, 2013 · You do realize that I am almost ready to roll 300,000 miles on AN AMERICAN CAR with only 1,800 in repairs over ten years. 1,000 of that was the fuel pump and the water pump which gave out at 220,000 miles and then the later at 230,000 miles on the original pumps. Pretty good don't you think? If you maintain a car it will last. In my experience with the 92 and 96, the repairs required go up a step function after 110-115k miles, and/or 6-8 years. We also saw similar results on the Honda, which required significant repair expenses after 8 years/90k miles. Can you keep it going? Probably yes. But it can approach the same expense level as a new car on a per month basis.
Any accident will scrap this car off the road because the repair cost will be more than the value of the car. So sad fact. I can't find a buyer for my car and will dump it for $3500 at the local dealer. Sad story. My car is in good condition for it's mileage (198k miles).
